Augusta Weekend Adventure
I started hosting weekend adventures a few of years ago after travelling to Norway and touring the fjords with SUP Norway (put it on your bucket list) and fell in love with the idea of SUP adventures.
My goal was to create a wonderful community of paddlers, to explore new places and do fun STUFF!
Collie was our first adventure weekend with the help of Traaverse, we then explored Fremantle on an urban adventure (when we were unsure of travel restrictions – discovering home turf is always fun)
December 2021 – took us to Lake Leschenaultia, glamping, paddling, horse riding and more!
Rottnest was the next destination with a mini day trip on board Due West to celebrate another AWESOME year of paddling.
March 2022 – it was Mandurah’s turn to host and we had a ball, paddling with dolphins and dancing around poles!
During this time, my husband and I decided to live BIG and purchase a property in Augusta so I could deliver more adventure weekends from my own space.
The universe made us jump a few hoops, but BOOGALOO CAMP is just the beginning things to come.
October 22 was a collaborative effort with Jessica Lowe and Valerie Gamer for an indulgent and delicious weekend in Dunsborough.
March 17th 2023 – my dream became a reality and I hosted my first adventure weekend here in Augusta.
Guests ‘glamped’ in our beautiful bell tents, we grazed and star gazed.
Day 1 A mindful yoga practise in my traditional Mongolian Yurt enable our bodies to warm up ready for a glorious paddle alongside sting rays at Flinders Bay. It was an amazing opportunity for the ladies to play in some fun, little waves and practise ocean paddling in a supportive environment.
Our afternoon was spent touring the delightful Glenarty Road on their Farm Forage Tour. Wine tasting and eating farm fresh produce while exploring and learning about their beautiful space.
A full day which ended in a BBQ and an early night!
Day 2 a slow flow vinyasa class followed by coffee and treats at Two Seas Collective in town. The surprise activity (a fun inclusion that I prefer to keep secret on every weekend) was a journey over to East Augusta on our paddle boards to see the Earth Ship. A unique home that everyone should get a chance to tour. Lunch was served on the verandah and after a windy but exhilarating paddle back we had a fresh dip and Granny’s Pool before an afternoon of creativity.
Gorgeous Jo from Pics Studio set up her studio ready for us to create a master piece! For some of us – it was hard to switch from left to right side of brain. We’re all creative, we just need to let go.
There were loads of laughs and a few little touch ups (thank you Jo) but we all walked out with a painting to be proud of.
In a small country town, what’s the best place to eat on a Sunday night? The pub. Local caught whiting was a favourite on the menu.
Day 3 The itinerary listed bush walk and guided mediation, but we were blessed with a stunning morning of sunshine and no wind so we deviated from the plan and visited Hamelin Bay – to recreate our painting! Perfect conditions and the rays came to say hello. Next we saw Cosy Corner and to round off the weekend, an ocean swim at one of the most beautiful beaches in the south west – not telling you its name….you will have to book for the next adventure weekend to see it!
A weekend of connection, creativity, verve and vitality.
8 ladies, near strangers on Friday night, said their goodbyes on Sunday afternoon making plans to catch up again very soon. Stand up paddling bought them together and the weekend created friendships.
Thank you to each and everyone of you for bringing something special to the weekend.
Big hug to my sidekick Ship Wreck Suzi!
